Laura is headed to the Crater Rim Ultra (53km), in the Port Hills of Christchurch in October.
"I become involved in ultramarathons as I love to run on the trails and in the hills and really wanted to see what my body was capable of! I love to find new limits, so thought training for and competing in a ultramarathon was the perfect test! It’s such a challenge physically and mentally, but incredible that our bodies are capable of such awesome things. "
Ultra running requires many hours and significant effort to train for events of such a long distance. Fuel requirements and preferences differ between individuals. Due to the duration of ultra running events, it’s essential to consider fuelling strategies – fuel needs will depend on level of ability and running pace.
